Summer Girl on a Swing Handmade Card

Hi Everyone!
Hope your Tuesday is going well 🙂 I’m entering a color challenge at Colorful Creations to be a part of their Design Team (link at the end of this post).

I’m entering this card:

I was trying to hold it up to the sunlight:

And here is another angle of it:

And yet, another angle!:

The colors for this Design Challenge were:

I was having a hard time trying to brainstorm what these colors reminded me of. At first, I was thinking about the circus or a bounce house. When I looked at it again, I was inspired by Summer.

Here is my walk through:
I started with a white blank card stock card:

I embossed a little over half of the card with Clouds.

Here is the embossed card:

I cut small thin strips of paper matching the color scheme:

I glued them to the part of the card that was not embossed. I alternated by color.

When I finally finished the bottom part of the card, I added a strip of ribbon across and cut the strips at the bottom that were hanging over.

I wanted to add a summer embellishment and I thought of a fun and colorful Pinwheel. For the Pinwheel, I cut a 2″ inch x 2″ inch square:

I penciled dots about 1/2 a centimeter apart:

I pierced the penciled dots with my piercing tool:

I realized that I might poke holes through my craft table, so I went and cut a cardboard piece and placed it under the square. This made piercing so much easier!

I worked through the holes with a small embroidery needle first before adding the thread. I made sure the needle went through each hole to loosen them so it would be easier when I put the thread through.

I forgot to pencil in my cutting lines to make the pinwheel, so I did that.
I attached the thread to the needle and took the thread over the edge of the square and into the hole to achieve this look:

My Pinwheel embellishment was finished!:

I used the Happy Swinging Girl Free Digi Stamp by Dearie Dolls (link at the end of this post), and colored it with Spectrum Noir Markers. I used the colors from the Color Palette in the Design Challenge so I could follow the theme properly.

I used Tim Holtz Tumbled Glass Distress Ink and sponged the cloud embossing side of the card:

I used a Have a Great Day Sentiment with Tim Holtz Distress Ink Broken China.

I die cut the stamped sentiment:

This is what it looked like after die cut:

I used Tanmit Gel Pens to decorate the embellishment with fun colors (from the palette) and patterns:

I used Antique Linen Distress Ink to give the sentiment dimension and color:

I glued the Pinwheel to the bottom part of the card:

and then I attached the Digi Stamp and the Sentiment and added rhinestone embellishments.

All Done!
